First National Bank of Chester County's Generous Gift
The Classroom Library Project, completed in 2009, will benefit the children on a long-term basis. New books were purchased for each classroom. Additional books were also purchased so that each child will receive the gift of their very own new book on their birthday. All children need to have high quality children's books as a part of their daily experience (Burns, Griffin, & Snow, 1999) including "books that positively reflect children's identity, home language, and culture." The Center purchased new, age-appropriate books including picture books, rhyming books, alphabet books, short stories, and chapter books. In The Center's literacy-rich environment teachers provide the children with occasions for daily reading.
